Sulphur Smell of Water

Thanks to everyone who has reached out to let the City know that the hydrogen sulfide smell of the water is particularly bad right now.

Bingen is currently operating solely on our own wells. Bingen typically purchases 80% of our water from White Salmon. Earlier this week there was a leaky valve in the vault for the SR-14 intertie (where White Salmon water flows into Bingen). This leak resulted in several inches of water in the electronics cabinet. The "brain" that tells Bingen's valves when to open and close so that the reservoir does not overflow was irreparably damaged, as was the modem that controls external communication. Bingen had an electrician out on 2/29/2024 to assess the "brain" and the power-supply. New ones are on order and we hope to have them installed on Monday, March 4, 2024.

It is not safe to reopen the valve between Bingen's water and White Salmon's water until the equipment is repaired.  We apologize for the inconvenience and are grateful for your patience.
