BINGEN CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

Special Workshop - June 1, 2004

The special workshop began at 5:00 p.m.  Council members present: Terry Trantow, Betty Barnes, Jeanette Fentie, Laura Mann, Randy Anderson and Mayor Brian Prigel. Clerk Jan Brending and Legal Counsel Tad Connors were present. Other attendance: John Gotts, Frank Childs, and Laura Leet.

The City Council met in a special workshop session with John Gotts to discuss the potential development of property currently located adjacent to the City limits of Bingen. Gotts would like to annex the property into Bingen and develop a 12-lot subdivision. The property was previously owned by Frenchie Vezina who is in the process of selling to John Gotts. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss issues and concerns the city council may have with the potential development. A memorandum from Brian Prigel was provided to the Council and Gotts (see attached). Frank Childs provided the City Council with an updated preliminary site plan for the proposed development.

The City Council said their concerns remain similar to those when Mr. Vezina was proposing a development on the same property: access, storm water runoff, fire control, and provision of utilities. The City Council asked Gotts to provide the City with a copy of a previous geo tech report conducted on the property and to provide legal documents that shows he has access.

Brian Prigel said the City will seek initial comments on the proposed development from local emergency service providers and from other local and state agencies. A subsequent meeting date was left open until additional information could be obtained by the City.

The special workshop concluded at 6:45 p.m.
