Animal Control

Pets are an important part of our lives and a peaceful co-existence with our neighbors and their pets is important to creating a harmonious and respectful community. By following some basic rules and laws, pets can enhance the livability of our neighborhoods.

Dogs more than six months old within the City of Bingen must be licensed. Licensing is done through Bingen City Hall. The Dog License Application Form can be found here.

Dogs must be leashed when out and about in Bingen, even at the park.  Dogs are allowed to be off leash when they are on their owner's property.  Bingen requires that pet owners pick up after their pets and properly dispose of their waste (BMC 6.04.080).

A limited number of chickens, ducks, pigeons, domesticated hares/rabbits, and miniature pot-bellied pigs are allowed to be kept as pets within city limits.  These animals must also be licensed.

Animal Nuisances     Every now and then all dogs will bark, but nobody likes a continuously barking dog. Please pay attention to your pet and consider how your neighbors might be impacted by your animals.

To report a persistent barking dog, a lost/found dog, a dog off-leash, or other animal-related concerns, please call or email Bingen’s Animal Control Officer:
